A’s acquire Chris Hatcher from Dodgers

The Oakland Athletics purchased a lottery ticket for the bullpen on Tuesday, acquiring right-handed pitcher Chris Hatcher from the Los Angeles Dodgers for $500,000 in international bonus slot money.

Hatcher has an ERA of 4.66 in 2017 and a career ERA of 4.72. Homers and walks have plagued him throughout his career. In 206 career innings, Hatcher has allowed 29 home runs and 72 walks. However, the hard-throwing righty has racked up 216 career strikeouts. If pitching coach Scott Emerson and the rest of the A’s coaching staff can help Hatcher suppress the walks and homers, he could be a valuable bullpen piece.
