Academy of Art freshman Anahi Servin has been named PacWest Golfer of the Year, Freshman of the Year and a first-team All-PacWest selection, the conference announced on Thursday.
The Asuncion, Paraguay native, who came to San Francisco to study architecture, won three individual titles this season, including the conference championship. En route to that win, she posted a school, course and conference tournament record 64 at The Wigwam in Litchfield Park, Ariz.
Servin earned four PacWest Golfer of the Week awards, carded the lowest score for the Urban Knights in seven tournaments this season, and had five top-five finishes.
This is the second straight year — and third time in four seasons — that an Academy of Art women’s golfer has been named Golfer of the Year. Last spring, Sterling Hawkins took home the award and in 2015, Crystal Wang was named co-Golfer of the Year.
Hawkins, who finished in the top 11 six times this season, made the All-PacWest second team this season as a senior, the second time she’s earned the distinction. She was named to the second team in 2015.
The Academy of Art’s other Hawkins sister — sophomore Elan — earned seven top-20 finishes this season, and took second place at the California Bays Invitational, earning a spot on the All-PacWest Third Team for the second straight year.
Also earning all-conference honors were sophomore Han-Chuan”Vicky” Kuo (second-team) and senior Shu-lin Lin (third-team).
Kuo finished seventh at the PacWest Championship to make the All-Tournament Team, and turned in top-10 finishes in four tournaments this season. This is Kuo’s second-straight year being named to the All-PacWest Second Team.
Lin’s best finish this season was a tie for fifth at the Mikuni Sushi Shootout, a team tournament win for the Urban Knights. She also placed in top-20 in five tournaments this year, and tied for 13th at the PacWest Championship. The honor is Lin’s third time on the All-PacWest Team. She was the conference’s Freshman of the Year in 2015.
