The Academy of Art University men’s basketball team reached a significant milestone in its 67-66 victory over Hawaii Pacific on Sunday. The victory gave the Urban Knights their first season with 10 wins in program history. Senior guard Kendall brown led the team with 16 points. After an abysmal start to the season, Art U could compete for a spot in the PacWest Conference Tournament.
The University of San Francisco women’s basketball team beat Brigham Young, 76-73, in a double-overtime thriller on Saturday. The Dons overcame a four-point deficit in the fourth quarter to force overtime. Senior forward Michaela Rakova led the team with 25 points and 23 rebounds. It was Rakova’s second 20-20 game of the season. The win put USF over the .500 mark at 13-12 record with a 8-6 mark in WCC league play.
The City College of San Francisco men’s basketball team, which is 26-1 and undefeated in conference, almost suffered a rare setback on Friday. They won, 75-71. Las Positas employed a zone that limited the Rams for a half. After heading into the break behind a point, CCSF found an offensive rhythm. Sophomore forward Michael Steadman scored a team-high 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
