A man was stabbed and another pummeled with a cooler at a tailgate party in the Candlestick Park parking lot Sunday, police said.

The injured had been partying at the stadium with family when they got into an argument with a group of about 10 people walking past them around 1:40 p.m., police said.

The verbal spat led to a brutal brawl. One of the party crashers, who was wearing a 49ers jersey, stabbed a tailgater in the lower part of his body, police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza said.

A second crasher smacked another tailgater “on the side of the head with a cooler, knocking him to the ground,” police said.

The victim suffered a swollen eye and lacerations to his face, Esparza said.

The cause for the fight remains under investigation, he added. Police did not say whether the tailgaters were Oakland Raiders fans.

The 49ers played the Raiders on Sunday in a Bay Area rivalry known for violent clashes between fans. The 49ers won 17-9.

Both the victims and suspects were described as Hispanic men in their early 30s, police said. The victims were transported to San Francisco General Hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Cops are hunting the assailants, who fled after the fight. One suspect was described as standing 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a skinny build, police said.

The suspects were with two females at the time of the altercation, who were being questioned by police at the scene, police said.

Anyone with information about the incident is requested to call the police anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444. They can also text information to TIP411.
